Samsung has already released three One UI 9.0 beta updates for the Galaxy S26 series, and it has started testing One UI 9.0 internally for several high-end and mid-range Galaxy phones. Now, the company has been spotted testing One UI 9.0 for the Galaxy A25 for the first time.
Tipster Tarun Vats has spotted a One UI 9.0 test build with firmware version A256BXXUCFZF1 for the Galaxy A25 on Samsung’s servers. This doesn’t mean the South Korean firm will release a One UI 9.0 beta update for the phone, though. The company is simply testing the software internally and will release the stable version once it has addressed any performance, reliability, and stability issues.
The Galaxy A25 was launched in late 2023 with Android 14 onboard, and Samsung promised to offer four major Android OS updates to it. The company has already released two of those major updates: One UI 7 (Android 15) in May 2025 and One UI 8 (Android 16) in October 2025.
The stable version of One UI 9.0 will debut on the Galaxy Z Flip 8, Galaxy Z Fold 8, and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra later this month. The Galaxy S26 series is expected to receive the stable update sometime in August. Samsung will then gradually roll out the update to older flagship devices, followed by compatible mid-range and entry-level Galaxy phones.
Samsung is expected to complete the One UI 9.0 rollout in the third or fourth quarter of this year.
Besides the core Android 17 improvements, the update will bring subtle UI refinements, a more customizable Quick Panel, a more colorful media player widget in the notifications area and Quick Panel, enhanced app protection and network blocking, and new tape and pen styles in Samsung Notes. More new features will be introduced with One UI 9.5 in early 2027.
